Outside of TRAC I am involved in Break the Silence, The Student Advisory Board for the Center for Ethics, and a member of Alpha Phi in Lehigh Greek life. I admire the peer to peer learning and mentorship aspect of TRAC and the unique approach to education that the program emphasizes. I love the community within the TRAC program and am so thankful for the many friends it has introduced me to.

Business

Good business communication skills are essential for success on the job and career advancement. In this course, students are introduced to the frameworks and skills necessary to deliver communications that are professional, clear, concise, evidence-driven, and persuasive. Emphasis is on basic business communications including memos, reports, and presentations.

Is Censorship Necessary? (FYS)

Global Studies and Modern Languages & Literatures

Moves to control what the public knows have a long history in most cultures. Bans of individual works serve to extend political control, maintain public “decorum,” protect community values and economic influence, and enforce traditional divisions in society. Censorship keeps books, poems, films, art, performances, even individual phrases and words out of general circulation around the globe. But is censorship necessary? What about our freedom of expression? How do we draw the line between individual rights and the common good? In this course we will look at theories behind censorship and explore twentieth- and twenty-first-century works of cinema, literature, visual art, and music banned around the globe to understand what motivates both the censors and the ingenious dissenters who find and share such “dangerous” material.
